As a CDE, Dt. Priyanka coordinates meal timing and carb distribution to avoid hypoglycaemia as blood sugar improves.

CDE + Clinical Dietitian

Dt. Priyanka holds both credentials. Very few Indian dietitians hold both a CDE and clinical dietitian qualification.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can Type 2 diabetes be reversed with diet?
Type 2 diabetes is characterised by insulin resistance and progressive beta-cell dysfunction. Research, including landmark studies like the DiRECT trial, has shown that sustained dietary intervention leading to significant caloric reduction and weight loss can drive Type 2 diabetes into remission — defined as HbA1c below 6.5% for at least three months without glucose-lowering medication. The mechanism involves reduction of intra-hepatic and intra-pancreatic fat, which restores insulin sensitivity and partially recovers beta-cell insulin secretion. Remission is most likely when the duration of diabetes is under 10 years and when meaningful weight loss is achieved. It is not guaranteed for everyone, but significant and lasting improvement in blood sugar control is achievable for most people with structured dietary management.
Do I have to give up rice and roti?
No. The issue with rice and roti is not the food — it is the portion, the pairing, and the sequence. Eating rice with dal and sabzi, starting with vegetables, has a very different effect on blood sugar than the same rice eaten alone.
What is the difference between a CDE and a regular dietitian?
A Certified Diabetes Educator has additional clinical training in how medications, glucose monitoring, and insulin interact with diet. It is a separate credential on top of the clinical dietitian qualification. Very few Indian dietitians hold both.
Should I stop my diabetes medication?
Never stop or reduce medication without your doctor's approval. As your blood sugar improves through diet, your doctor may review your prescription which eventually helps you stop the medication. We provide dietary notes you can share with your physician to support that conversation.
Can I consult online as an NRI?
Yes. All consultations are online. We have active clients across Canada, UAE, UK, Switzerland, and the USA.
